About Mary
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mary Serafin is a second year MBA candidate & scholar at London Business School.
Prior to pursuing her MBA, she served as a Growth Strategy & Business Design Associate Manager at Fjord, a design and innovation consultancy, by Accenture Song. She most recently completed a secondment as an Associate Strategy Officer within the Gates Foundation’s Gender Equality Division, driving a more gender-equal future for women and girls in sub-Saharan and South Asia.
Mary specializes in blending her background in human-centered design research, business strategy, and project management to envision innovative and viable employee, customer, and human experiences. She carries a degree in Human-Centered Design from UC Davis.
Mary is a life-long advocate for gender equality, the LGBTQIA+ community, and women's sports. While at UC Davis, she founded Davis Women in Business and launched the largest women’s empowerment conference, “OWN IT.” At LBS, she is the DEI Vice President for the Out in Business club, creating dialogue around intersectional identities. She also serves as the President of both the Sports Business Club and Basketball Club, leading LBS' efforts to encourage more women to pursue careers in women's sports.
On the side, Mary is a poker instructor, triathlete, youth girls basketball skills coach, and frequent public speaker.
